The Pearl · Kanha

Come for the stay. Leave with stillness.

Kanha Shanti Vanam, Telangana

What there is to do here, described as it is. A campus you can walk for a whole day, three kitchens, a garden that did not exist sixteen years ago, and the option of doing none of it.

What this page is

The day, not the programme.

Everything on this page is something you can decide on over breakfast. The programmes you book a stay for - retreats, teacher training, Ayurvedic therapy - are on Wellness & Retreats, because those need dates and a conversation first.

The Pearl is the hotel. The 340 acres around it were built by Heartfulness over sixteen years, and our guests have the run of them. Where a thing is theirs rather than ours, we say so - not as a disclaimer, but because it is the point.

Wellness & Retreats
The restaurant at The Pearl: a long table and chairs running the length of a glazed wall open to the garden.
The campus dining hall at Kanha, a wide timber-ceilinged room of empty tables between sittings.

Dining

Three kitchens, one of them ours.

The Pearl's restaurant seats forty. South Indian, North Indian and Continental, buffet or à la carte, and a welcome drink when you arrive. Breakfast is a complimentary buffet from seven to ten.

On the campus there are two more. The Dining Hall serves simple sattvic vegetarian meals three times a day, to residents and visitors alike - it is the room where you are most likely to end up in conversation with someone. Fausto's is an Italian terrace restaurant with a wood-fired oven. Suruchi Café does North Indian, South Indian and Chinese through the day.

Dining on the campus is vegetarian. That is not a restriction the hotel imposes; it is how Kanha eats, and it is worth knowing before you arrive rather than after.

Nature & Outdoors

Before 2010 this was dry, open ground.

The forest you walk through was planted. So were the ponds, the water table underneath them, and the seven hundred and thirty-nine species in the nursery. It is the single most persuasive thing about staying here, and The Pearl did not plant it: Heartfulness has been at it since 2010, and a stay with us helps pay for the next sixteen years of it.

The Heartyculture nursery runs to 5.7 acres and holds more than two hundred thousand saplings across 739 species from 113 plant families. Trees marked for felling in the city - more than three hundred of them, and around a hundred lifted out of road-widening schemes - were transported here and replanted.

Twelve water-harvesting ponds and a set of man-made sarovars have brought the water table up by two to three hundred feet from where it started. All of the planting is under drip irrigation; all of the turf is under sprinklers.

Seventy bird species have been recorded on the campus. Shikra, black-winged kite, tailorbirds, sunbirds, bulbuls, weaver birds. There are no guided bird walks - there is a campus, early light, and whatever is out.

In 2019 Kanha took the Indian Green Building Council's Platinum rating, the first meditation centre in the world to earn it.

Culture & Heritage

What the campus keeps.

Four of the fifteen-odd places a golf cart will take you. The full circuit runs four to six hours; the buggy is arranged at the desk.

Inside the Inner Peace Museum: shelved displays, framed pictures and cabinets under warm timber.

Museum

Inner Peace Museum

An experiential museum rather than a collection - art, installations and planting arranged to be walked through slowly. It has its own building and its own website.

Open to guests
A garden at Babuji Vanam: a circular paved clearing edged with brick, planting beds and young palms around it.

Garden

Babuji Vanam

The world's first energy transmission garden: forty tree species chosen to absorb and radiate Pranahuti. Opened by the Governor of Telangana in April 2025, with the Ministry of Culture.

Architecture

The Meditation Hall

The world's largest meditation hall - a roof with no walls, opened by the President of India in January 2020. Meditation inside it is offered free, by a certified trainer, to anyone who asks.

Making

Pottery, books and the Goshala

A pottery studio with a large kiln and materials to hand. A multilingual library with sofas and daylight. A goshala with more than a hundred native cows and buffalo.

Celebrations

An anniversary, a birthday, a family that has not all been in one room for years.

The banquet hall runs to 3,041 sq ft with another 1,350 of pre-function space - 275 theatre, 325 standing at a reception, 180 on rounds. Small enough to feel like a family occasion, large enough that nobody has to be left off the list.

Catering is vegetarian, and the campus has an unpublished policy on alcohol that we are not going to guess at on your behalf. Ask us and we will get you a straight answer before you commit to anything.

Anything with a formal programme - a conference, a dealer meet, an institutional dinner - is on Meetings & Events, with the capacities set out properly.

Family & Group Stays

Children are genuinely welcome, and it is priced that way.

Under five stay free and eat free. Six to eleven stay free and pay half for meals. Twelve and over are charged as adults. An extra bed is ₹1,500 plus tax, breakfast included.

The campus does the rest of the work. There is a children's park. At the Heartfulness Institute of Sports Academy there is a twenty-five-metre temperature-controlled pool with a baby pool beside it, coaching on request, an air-conditioned gym, and fourteen badminton courts - among the largest such facility in the world. There is a girls' cricket academy. Sports facilities open seven to seven, Monday to Saturday.

For a group of any size, the buggy tour is the thing to book first: fifteen-plus stops, four to six hours, and it settles everyone into the scale of the place before anyone starts asking what there is to do.

Around Kanha

Nearby, described honestly.

We are not going to print a drive time we cannot stand behind. Nobody publishes road distances from Kanha to any of these, and every figure circulating online is measured from the centre of Hyderabad, not from here. So: what they are, which direction they lie in, and a car when you want one.

Questions

The things people ask first.

If the answer is not here, reservations will have it.

No. Meditation and yoga are offered on the campus every day and they are free. They are available to every guest and required of none. Plenty of guests come for the quiet and the gardens and never sit a session.

Plan a stay

Most of this can be decided after you arrive.

The buggy tour, the dining rooms, the gardens, the pool - none of it needs booking in advance. Rooms do.
